What are rechargeable hearing aids? How do they work?

All hearing aids take batteries, there’s no getting away from this. High tech hearing aids with advanced technology require a substantial amount of power from their battery, combined with the desire for hearing aids to be small and discreet the battery life of a standard none-rechargeable battery will last between 2-14 days depending on wear.

Enter rechargeable. Depending on your lifestyle a rechargeable version of your device involves placing your hearing aid on a charging dock (usually when the aid isn’t being worn – we suggest overnight) instead of replacing none re-chargeable batteries.

Can Lithium-ion rechargeable hearing aids take normal batteries?

Due to the Lithium-ion battery being in-built standard size 10/312/13/675 batteries cannot be used in replacement. These hearing aids do not have the standard removable hearing aid battery draw. If the concern is that you may forget to charge your battery do not worry, travel chargers are available and even as little as a 30-minute charge will get you hours of wear.

What if I forget to put my rechargeable hearing aids on charge? How long will it last?

These clever devices are designed to by manufacturers to charge at rapid speed. In most cases only taking a few hours to reach full charge. Flashing light indicators help you stay in the know about how much battery is in your hearing aid whilst charging and warning beeps presented to the wearer
indicate if the battery is running low and in need of charge.

What factors affect my battery life?

How often you use your hearing aid, the degree of your hearing loss, the features your hearing aid needs to use and the amount of streaming you may do (through Bluetooth) will determine the length of time your battery will last. This varies from person to person and situation to situation.
Making sure your devices are switched off when not being worn (such as at night) is another important factor in getting the full use of your hearing aid battery.

Highly recommend this clean , professional & relaxing practice . Monum was very helpful and advised me with ear care to control repeated need for syringing etc . She cleared my blocked ear with water very carefully and comfortably .The whole visit was really friendly from the phone call yesterday to make an appointment , to the warm greeting at reception prior to the treatment . Contacted Integrate in the morning and was given an appointment same day. I'm quite a nervous patient, but from the moment I arrived I felt very much at ease. I recently visited the team at the Cheadle clinic, having already used the services at their smaller hub in Wrexham, and wow, the warmth, friendliness and professionalism of the team was outstanding. I came away with having my issue resolved and more knowledgeable about how to look after my ears and my overall hearing. Whilst I live an hour from the Cheadle clinic, there are many other clinics I could visit in between, I will always be making an appointment to see the team at Integrate Hearing. What can I say. Love what the NHS do but they are so stretched..BUT this place is ace. So easy. Called 9am Monday after 4 days with no hearing in left ear and was in at 12 having both ears syringed. Pain free. 15 mins...Very professional service and lovely ladies to deal with. Highly recommend 👌

Excellent service! Olivia was patient, informative and caring. Ear wax removal by micro suction was far more efficient and not at all uncomfortable when compared to previous irrigation methods through NHS surgeries. A helpful suggestion might be to charge less for one ear, in order to stay competitive with some other names offering similar services.

Invisible in the Canal (IIC)

Extremely discreet. This is the smallest type of hearing aid, fitting deep within the ear canal making it almost invisible when worn. Suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss.

Completely in the Canal (CIC)

The CIC is the second smallest hearing aid which fits completely in the ear canal and dependent on the size and shape of your ear canal is also very discreet. Suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss).

Receiver in the Canal (RIC)

The most common style of hearing aid. Very comfortable, extremely discreet yet powerful. Virtually invisible this type of hearing aid sits neatly behind the ear. This device fits a wide range of hearing loss, designed to provide natural sound quality.

In the Canal (ITC)

Bespoke and discreet, slightly larger for increased ease of handling, power and battery life. This type of hearing aid sits in the outer portion of the ear canal and is smaller than the ITE style. It can fit a wide range of hearing loss.

In the Ear (ITE)

Fits comfortably in the outer ear. Great for people with dexterity issues. This hearing aid fits comfortably inside the bowl of the ear. Due to its size, it’s great for people with dexterity problems or needing more power. It fits a wide range of hearing loss.

Behind the Ear (BTE)

A more traditional style, fitting comfortably behind the ear and attaching to a custom-made ear mould. With this type of hearing aid, all of the components sit within a casing behind the ear. Suitable for people with mild to profound hearing loss.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth functionality in your hearing aids enables to you to connect and listen to a whole host of devices such as your phone, mobile, TV and tablet. Connectivity comes in multiple forms but the overall consensus is that the technology offers great advantages for audio sound quality for hearing aid wearers.
